Anna Engbring Cheap Thrills 1/07/09

There are many days, nights, times; that I am simply stuck. In these moments of despair which cause me to feel completely uninspired, and helpless I find myself walking through my retail heaven, Anthropologie. Although I rarely buy, I find that the ambiance of this palace places me in a zen like state and once I have walked almost in a daze through her many aisles I find myself once again eager to make. Perhaps its the colors, the worn barn-like floor or the many flea market finds paired with beautiful clothes that causes me to remind me, my hands and sometimes this brain that I can create.
And so sometimes late at night after the hells of an overspent studio time have gotten the best of me I entertain my cheap thrill and I walk to her now dark store and stare. I look at her clothes and the multiples of forgotten things now decorating my over priced haven and I feel like my day, has not been after all for not.

  1. How do you intend to use this inspiration in your currency project- The image is wonderful and I love the description of what draws you to that very creative place. Maybe try to to distill what makes it so great?- is it the sense of handmade that is in a lot of the work- is it the old and the new- is it the simple and the ornate? Nice Job
