Glass Currency Ideas: Kayla

Currency is something that we use everyday. It is represented by the community's most valuable commodities. Money as we know it, has changed dramatically throughout history. From shells, which are still used in parts of Africa, whale teeth, decorated leather, beads, and spices to paper, coins, and plastic cards. In these objects we call "currency," we depend on them to connect us to our society and help improve our materialistic needs along with necessities. Since we use it so frequently, it is almost a part of us. I am very interested in creating a piece that accentuates our body such as tattoos do. I would like the colors to be meaningful and the pieces to be worn on the body like some form of jewelry. I am also interested in how the beads will physically fit and work together as one unit, similar to puzzle pieces.

  1. The idea of a puzzle is interesting- How are you thinking of creating a puzzle with the beads. I also like the idea of it accentuating the body and being a decoration as well as a form of currency.
