I am thinking that I will base my currency on an agrarian culture. Beads will hold an equal value to useful items, for example a small simple bead might be worth a sack of flour or a cone of sugar, a mid size and complexity bead might be worth a brass thimble or needle and a large ornate bead might be worth a goat.
