I rarely read the articles in National Geographic but can claim that it has many a time inspired me. I find myself (as with all magazines) flipping from back cover to front as to not attach meaning (or anyone else's) to the images I see. I do this flopping hundreds of times; flipping and re-flipping; sometimes tearing, gluing, posting and taping. Most times these images mean nothing to me, or so it seems at the time. But after a stew something somewhere clicks and I remember these "tear-outs". I have, to say the least A LOT of these skeletons of magazines that once were whole, seemingly forgotten that may take credit for most of what I create.
